Between Bridges Residency 2024
We are very grateful to have received a remarkable amount of applications and are thrilled to announce Didem Pekün and Lucy Beech as the recipients of the third and fourth Between Bridges Residency, respectively.
January - June 2024: Didem Pekün
Didem Pekün is an artist-filmmaker and educator whose work is characterized by a combination of theory and practice. Thus, in parallel with her research, she has made several films that address issues of political violence, displacement and their myriad intersections. She is currently working on moving image works and an educational platform around notions of repairing the future and community building. Pekün’s practice is engaged with and motivated by work that liberates and work that thinks about liberation.
July - December 2024: Lucy Beech
Lucy Beech is an artist whose practice revolves around collaboration and encompasses filmmaking, choreography, research and writing. Often blending documentary and fiction, Beech's work explores how entanglements between biological, social and cultural processes shape organisms and environments. A series of new films produced in the last few years have focused on the ecological, psychic and societal impacts of reusing waste materials in contexts such as poetry, agriculture and reproductive medicine. Beech is the founder of the ‘Working With Waste Research Group’; a shared nomadic space for artists, historians and environmentalists to develop projects that reactivate waste materials.
